Dengue fever in neonates
Case Report
Keywords:
Dengue, Aedes, Morbidity, Infant MortalityAbstract
Introduction: dengue is an acute and highly endemic disease in most tropical countries. Transmitted by the bite of the female Aedes aegypti mosquito, the vertical transmission has not been frequently described, and it may cause severe forms, with high maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. Case: we present a case report on perinatal transmission of dengue fever in a newborn from Ballenita (St. Elena Province) as well as a review of the relevant published articles. Discussion: since it is a pathology rarely reported in neonates, non-specific clinical presentations are observed, in addition to considering the time of presentation during the gestational period.
