Equipo de protección personal y los sistemas de seguridad de los ocupantes de las ambulancias

Abstract
Introducción: El personal de atención prehospitalaria labora en entornos de constante exposición a riesgos biológicos y físicos, que pueden intensificarse ante el incumplimiento de medidas de seguridad apropiadas. Metodología: Se realizó un estudio observacional, no experimental, con enfoque cuantitativo y alcance descriptivo, desarrollado del 11 al 25 de mayo de 2026. Se observó a 11 técnicos de emergencias de la Junta Cantonal de la Cruz Roja de Manta antes, durante y después de sus labores de atención prehospitalaria. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó una ficha de observación validada por expertos, conformada por 20 ítems agrupados en cuatro dimensiones. Resultados: Se observó un cumplimiento global del 51,8 %. La dimensión sistemas de seguridad de las ambulancias presentó el mayor nivel de cumplimiento (98,2 %), seguida de disponibilidad y condición del EPP (59,1 %). El menor cumplimiento correspondió a uso y prácticas del EPP (23,6 %) y procedimientos y mantenimiento (18,2 %). Se observó incumplimiento total (0 %) en los ítems relacionados con la disponibilidad y uso de protección ocular, la técnica adecuada de colocación y retiro del EPP, el registro de mantenimiento de vehículos y la disponibilidad de soluciones de desinfección. Conclusiones: Es preciso reforzar la capacitación y supervisión del personal en los aspectos que presentaron menor cumplimiento, así como implementar evaluaciones periódicas que permitan identificar nuevas deficiencias y dar seguimiento a las medidas de seguridad.
