Paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM) is a systemic fungal infection attributed to Latin America, its causal agent being P. brasiliensis (S1), P. americana (PS2), P. restrepiensis (PS3), P. venezuelensis (PS4) and P. lutzii. The diagnosis can be easily obtained in healthcare units; however, it requires trained personnel. We report the case of a patient who was a bus driver in the province of Guayas, Guayaquil canton from the age of 18 until a year ago after the onset of his illness. Patient characteristics and microbiological findings are described.
